About RateMyFete.org
Britain's least official, most opinionated guide to village fetes, fayres and summer shows — rated out of 50 by the people who actually queued for the coconut shy.
Why rate fetes at all?
Because a good village fete is a small national treasure, and a bad one is a wasted Saturday and £4 on a raffle strip. We think the difference deserves recording. So we built a fair, funny, five-part scoring system and pointed it at every green, churchyard and cricket pavilion we could find.
The five categories
- Fun Factor — did the day spark joy?
- Value — entry, tokens and raffles vs. how skint you left.
- Fete-ishisms — the coconut shy, the tombola, the welly-wanging and other proudly odd traditions.
- Beer Tent — range, price, and the shade-to-queue ratio.
- Cake Stall Quality — Victoria sponge structural integrity is non-negotiable.
Each is scored out of 10 by fete-goers. We average every rating, add up the five, and crown a total out of 50.
